PROGRAM
Student Learning Outcomes
- Understand how AI-generated and AI-altered media can be created and circulated.
- Evaluate digital information using evidence rather than appearance or intuition.
- Identify missing context, misleading framing, manipulation, and unsupported claims.
- Understand how purpose, persuasion, emotion, and algorithms can influence perception.
- Use a repeatable verification process before believing or sharing questionable content.
- Collaborate in investigative teams and communicate evidence-based conclusions.
- Recognize uncertainty and state honestly when available evidence is insufficient.
- Practice responsible digital citizenship in an AI-driven media environment.
MISSION: CAN YOU DECIDE WHAT TO BELIEVE?
ROUND 1 – FIRST IMPRESSION
Students encounter selected media before receiving the full verification framework. They make an initial judgment and record what influenced that judgment.
ROUND 2 – LEARN TO QUESTION & VERIFY
Students learn the six-point framework and practice asking better questions about source, evidence, context, authenticity, purpose, and independent confirmation.
ROUND 3 – INVESTIGATE AGAIN
Teams revisit the same anchor case using the framework, research tools, and mentor questions, then compare their findings with their first impression.
ROUND 4 – TEAM INVESTIGATION CHALLENGE
Teams select from pre-curated Investigation Case Packs and complete a structured investigation in timed stages: case orientation, evidence collection, cross-checking, conclusion development, and presentation preparation.
ROUND 5 – DEFEND YOUR VERDICT
Teams present their conclusion as evidence hearing. Faculty/judges ask students to explain their strongest evidence, remaining uncertainty, and reasoning.
